All About Kino

Bahia de Kino is remote, yet easily accessible. Kino is not a tourist town, but a unique little village, peaceful and serene.
It's 5 miles of uncrowed, if not desserted
pristine sandy beach is
dotted with beautiful beach homes. Unspoiled beauty on the Sea of Cortes - Gulf of California.
A great beach destination for Arizona - New Mexico - Colorado.

Spring in Kino Bay........
the week before
Easter Sunday

An unbelievable number of Mexican vacationers invade the little villiage of Kino, beginning on the Thursday before Easter Sunday.  It is their biggest holiday of the year. It is called Semana Santa or All Saints week.  80,000 people have been recorded in years past.

Music, laughter, dancing, cruising, drinking go on into the wee hours of the night. The police number is quadrupled. First Aid Medical units stationed and so on.

Every hotel and house are booked 2 months in advance. Campers start to stake out their spot on the beach Wednesday with tents, shade awnings and more.

The stores run out of most everything. The traffic is stop and go. There are food vendors everywhere. Walking is best.

If you're up for an event such as this, just stock up on your food, ice, beer, before Thursday and enjoy!

If you want to avoid the masses you should depart Friday early morning before Easter Sunday.

The masses will begin to exit on Easter Sunday night and the rest Monday morning.

Mexicans do continue to vacation the week after Easter, however, it is in no way equivalent to the masses the week before.
